With the tail-mounted airbrake fully extended, and triple-slotted flaps deployed for landing, crew members from the Royal Air Force’s 32 Squadron pilot their BAe 146 Statesman on a quiet arrival into Birmingham Airport, with a medevac operation from Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International as RRR1333.
Designated the ‘Royal Squadron’, 32 Squadron is based at RAF Northolt in London – and operates both the BAe 146-100, -200, and also the AgustaWestland A109 helicopter, serving to fly officials and VIPs whilst also supporting other transportation requirements from the RAF.
32 Squadron operates two BAe 146-100s, both of which have the capability of medical support operations.
Both jets were retired earlier this year from active service, and now survive in preservation at two UK aircraft museums.
