After 110 days in maintenance here at SAT, the DC-8 has finally flown. N817NA, a 52-year-old McDonnell Douglas DC-8-72 departed SAT at 2:18pm and here she is returning at 6:18pm four hours later. The aircraft flew 1,602 miles during this four-hour flight, most of it being over the Gulf of Mexico. This aircraft brought tons of spotters to SAT and it was fun to meet new people and talk about planes with some fellow avgeeks. Great to finally catch this bird after months of maintenance and constant rescheduling.
