PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) returned the one and only Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft to lessor.
The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft was first imported by GIAA at the end of December 2017 and operated commercial flights in January 2018 which at that time was used to serve the Jakarta-Surabaya route. The Boeing 737 Max 8 type aircraft was briefly grounded following the plane crash of the same type that hit Lion Air in 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines in 2019. However, as of December 2021, the Boeing 737 Max 8 has been allowed to fly again in Indonesian skies.
