Jono’s passion for aviation dates back to when he was a youngster. Always fascinated with flight and always looking up to the sky as planes flew by. He started taking photos from a young age of an assortment of aircraft from his home base in Johannesburg at airports such as (the now) OR Tambo Int, Lanseria Int’l and Rand Airport. Fast forward – Today he has honed his photographic skills and frequents these airports to catch a vast variety of Airliners, Business Jets, Military aircraft and all exotics from Africa and abroad. I’m a 32-year-old spotter from Tehran. I frequently visit Mehrabad Airport for plane spotting despite all the dangers. The plane types we see here every day are probably the rarest in the world: B747 classic, B707, Fokker 27, F-14, F-4, and many more!! That’s probably one of the only upsides of living in Iran 😉

My passion for aviation photography started after a breakup with my ex-boyfriend when I decided to change my place of residence. For some reason – it could be my fate – my new residence was 500 meters away from one of the busiest airports in the world. Because of the breakup, I was so depressed, crying a lot and didn’t want to do anything. One day I decided to go for a walk to get my head out of negative thoughts. I got out of the house and I don’t know why, but I led my way to the airport. I was watching the beautiful planes and felt so relaxed. When I returned home I decided that I need to find my DSLR for the next time to capture the beautiful moments. After a while, I realized when I am surrounded by planes I am relaxed and peaceful, calm and able to concentrate on the planes only and I am out of the world. It’s like a meditation for me. Aviation photography is a therapy for my soul.

Hey Guys! I´m Alex and from northern Germany, currently living in Hamburg. My interest in aviation started in early ages, however, planespotting is a hobby I first did in 2014 after a trip to Hamburg Airport with an AN124 and A380 landing just minutes apart. Since then aviation-, landscape- and urban photography became my passion and leisure activity. Thanks to this, I visited many famous airports like FRA, LHR or AMS, as well as adventurous places like Iceland or New York. I love planes since early childhood. I started my way in aviation photography in spring 2010 in Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports in Moscow. After that, I started to discover many other interesting spotting locations all over the world. I visited Munich, Berlin, Prague, Barcelona, Madrid and many other spotting locations in Europe. Once I was doing plane spotting at Phuket (my most exotic spotting). From the beginning, I was using Nikon cameras and lenses. I am a female aviation photographer from the United Kingdom. I have always had an interest in aviation since I was young and I have previously worked in the travel industry. I combined my interest in aviation and my love of photography about 5 years ago and since spent more time at airports photographing the planes and refining editing techniques. My local airport is Manchester (MAN/EGCC) but I often visit Heathrow and take day trips to other European airports to photograph the variety of planes they have. I have a database of fully edited aviation photos from airports in Europe, USA, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Australia which I am now able to share since becoming part of v1Images. I have also built up successful social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram under @avgeekmel and I have attended PR events at Manchester & Heathrow Airports. I live on the south coast of England and go to LHR a few times a year, as well as yearly visits to Manchester and Amsterdam, flying from my local airport of Southampton. 24-year old transiting between Germany and Romania. Looking up for planes from the viewfinder since 2010. A golden light addict and close-up fanatic. My aviation passion started already at a very young age, probably around 5 years old. Likely because both my parents and grandparents lived close to Amsterdam airport, my grandparents even close to the threshold of 36R (Aalsmeerbaan). The first memory I have is when I was in my grandparents’ living room and witnessed a LOT Ilyushin IL-18 coming in from a distance. It was passing low over the house and when I ran to the back room, I could see it landing at runway 36R. The smoke, the noise and the graceful landing made an everlasting impression on me. As a result, when I was 13, I got my first Praktica camera and started taking pictures along runway 24. Ever since I have tried to improve my skills and go the extra mile to get a perfect shot. Last few years, I have done quite some travelling around the world, which gave me the opportunity to meet new people and make some new friends. For me also an important part of this hobby.
Grew up watching the planes on final to old Madeira Airport runway 06, back on the ’80s Initially more of a military aviation fan, “converted” to the commercial aviation as it’s the most usual kind of traffic at Madeira. Started photographing in 2004, mainly at my home island airport (FNC/LPMA) and since then have trying to improve my learning and gear on what’s essentially a hobby and a passion to be shared with others.
I’m a 21 years old boy from Seville, in southern Spain. Since I was 3 or 4 I started to show interest in aviation, as some of my family members served in the Spanish Air Force. I began doing photos in 2015 when I bought my first DSLR. Amongst my interests in aviation are, military and cargo planes. I’m currently studying a Comercial Pilot degree.
Severin has been interested in planes since he was a little boy. He started spotting in 2011 all-around airfields in his home country Germany due to his father, who is a spotter, too. He really liked his hobby, so he invested a lot if his free time into it and upgraded his gear soon. My story with Aviation began in 1986, coming from a railway town with a family background in the industry meant as a youngster trains were my love until my parents booked our first holiday abroad and decided to take me to see a plane close-up and I just got hooked on the size, speed and noise and my first flight was on my 7th birthday! In the starter years collecting registrations was the focus. In 1992/93 we (me and my dad) got SLR cameras and the passion for photography came into the picture (nice pun).
In 2007 I moved to Warsaw,Poland and lived just a few miles from the airport meaning I could spot daily. A year later I moved into digital photography and began uploading to Aviation Photography websites. In 2013 I returned to the UK and I spot mainly at MAN, DSA and a have a yearly trip to LHR. I’ve visited places like FRA/GDN/JFK/YYZ/HKG/NRT/HND outside of the UK and BHX/EMA in the UK. I primarily use Sony Alpha cameras (a350,a77,a99) + Sony G 70-400 lens having previously used Sigma 50-500.

My first photo with an airplane was taken when I was 14 and since then, year after year I’ve started taking more and more photos. 21 years later I can say that I have a lot of experience photographing at air force bases, international airports and normal airfields as well as air to air photo experience in both planning and executing such photo shoots. I have worked and still work with Romanian Airclub, Romanian Air Forces and Bucharest Airports and I am the vice president of Raw Aviation Crew, a non-profit organisation that promotes aviation photography and aviation in general in Romania. One of my guilty pleasures is to take weekend trips with my friends to various big airports around Europe for some spotting, beers and good time and I will never say no to a day at an airfield even if just for being around airplanes.
