Air Italy today announced it had ceased operations with immediate affect following a shareholder meeting in which Alisarda and Qatar Airways, through AQA Holding spa, are major shareholders.
All Air Italy flights that were scheduled to operate between 11th February 2020 and 25th February 2020 will be operated by other carriers at the times and on the days previously scheduled. All passengers who booked flights (outward or return) after 25 February 2020 will be re-protected or fully refunded.
Air Italy commenced operations as Alisarda in 1966, before a re-name of the company to Meridiana in 1991. Further rebranding of Meridiana occured in March 2018 where the current Air Italy brand was born and introduced.
