A very special DC-3, PP-ANU was the first plain DC-3 off the production line (i.e. not a DST) built originally for American Airlines in 1936. It latter flew with Varig from 1961 till 1969. In 1971 she was ferried to Porto Alegre and placed in static exhibition outside the airline’s Museum. In 2005 the Museum closed its doors and the aircraft’s condition deteriorated. Beginning in April 2016 PP-ANU was completely rebuilt for static display by Varig’s Museum new owners, on a dedicated venue at Boulevard Laçador a shopping mall located near runway 11’s threshold of Porto Alegre Salgado Filho Intl Airport.
