    Freshly repainted and rolled out by International Aerospace Coatings (IAC) at their Shannon base almost a week ago, one of Norse Atlantic Airways’ set of Boeing 787-9s arrives just after sunset at Birmingham Airport for the first time, positioning in for maintenance with STS Aviation Services prior to entering revenue passenger service.

    With a current total of fifteen Boeing 787s on order, split between the -8 and -9 variants, Norse Atlantic is a low-cost long-haul airline based in Norway, being founded earlier this year with the aim of operating between Europe and the United States some of the aircraft once belonging to Norwegian Air Shuttle, which ended it’s similar long-haul division in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on world travel.

    OE-LNN, one such ex-Norwegian 787-9, is expected to enter service as LN-FNI next year, and is named ‘Jotunheimen’, after the mountainous region in Norway – home to the Jotunheimen National Park, and also the highest mountain in Northern Europe, Galdhøpiggen.
